About

I began painting quite recently at the age of 64. My work has developed through a process of intense and consistent practice and experimentation. At least that’s how it started. The last couple of years have been harder with the challenge of physical health issues slowing me down quite considerably.

Landscapes and seascapes are what inspire me most and I find this subject to be congruent with my interest in the sacred, the spiritual, the nature of reality and consciousness. I listen to music when I paint. The images emerge from free exploration and are discovered and refined only in the later stages of the painting. I want to express something which is beyond words and deeply felt and to create atmospheric images as a focus for contemplation. I am open to how this all happens.

I have been a regular exhibitor at The Art Yard Gallery, Cradley Heath B64 5HX and I am a member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists Friends and a member of the Midland Painting Group. I worked for many years as a psychotherapist and I have a deep love for music, art, literature and nature.
